KATHMANDU: A draft of the alleged seven-point agreement, which the Nepali Congress and the CPN Maoist Centre struck to build a new equation and form a new government before the Maoist party formally pulled out of the CPN-UML led coalition government, has been leaked to media on Wednesday evening.

A copy of the alleged agreement that THT Online received shows that the top leaders of two parties — Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal — had agreed to form a coalition government.

“For that, the CPN Maoist Centre would withdraw the support from the CPN-UML-led government and call back all its ministers from the Cabinet,” the seventh point reads.

Other points talks about resolving the issues of raised by agitating ethnic groups through political understanding and amendment of the constitution; holding local, provincial and federal elections; addressing the issues of transitional justice; providing relief to those affected by the devastating earthquake and carrying out reconstruction; and launching campaign for the country’s economic prosperity and development.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had held a meeting to discuss the new coalition, yesterday.

The Maoist party had organised a press conference earlier today. Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who is believed to be one of the architects of the new equation, had revealed that the Maoist party had already received a letter from the Nepali Congress extending support to form a new government in Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s premiership.
